Join us for a four-day dynamic interactive experience and learn all about "The Numbers Behind Housing Development".

If you're determined to have 
future in real estate development, understanding the numbers is a must. Our instructors will draw from their own experiences and case studies to teach you the basics of proforma development, land and project valuation, sensitivity analysis and financing criteria.

Expertly facilitated by Michael von Hausen of MVH Urban Planning & Design, this course is limited to just 60 students and is for UDI members only.



At the end of this course, you'll possess a good understanding of proformas 
from various perspectives: valuation expert, developer, and lenders. This is also an opportunity to expand your professional network.

BIOS

BRADY FLEGUEL - Burgess Cawley Sullivan and Associates 
Brady Fleguel began his appraisal career in 1999 at the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) in Ontario after completing his Real Property Assessment Diploma (including a Diploma in Urban Land Economics) at Seneca College in Toronto. After four years of commercial, industrial and residential property valuation for property tax purposes, he moved to Vancouver in 2003 and joined BC Assessment as part of the commercial valuation team. Mr. Fleguel joined Burgess, Cawley Sullivan and Associates (BCS) in 2004 and achieved his AACI, P. App in 2005 after a number of years of correspondence work through the University of British Columbia. Brady became a principal in 2008.
 
Brady’s portfolio includes a variety of assignments with a focus on development land, shopping centres, multi-family residential and office buildings. His work encompasses projects throughout British Columbia and including areas Vancouver Island, the Okanagan and the Sunshine Coast. Brady works closely with property tax consulting and assessment appeals; a sector that benefits from his previous experience with the tax authority. He is experienced in the land appraisal of a number of master-planned communities from the point of developer acquisition including Millennium Water, East Fraserlands and Willow Beach (Osoyoos). His work experience further includes expropriation cases and arbitration consulting between tenants and landlords.
 
Brady is an avid cyclist and enjoys both road and mountain biking.

HUGH CARTER - Pollyco Group of Companies
In May 2015, Hugh joined the Pollyco Group of Companies as General Manager. Pollyco is a privately owned real estate developer operating in Greater Vancouver, other communities in British Columbia and Calgary, Alberta. Pollyco is also the partner in the Willoughby Town Centre in Langley. In land development, the company is currently developing over 3,000 acres of land in British Columbia and Alberta. The senior management team is responsible for the development and management of more than $500 million in real estate assets: single family residential subdivisions, townhomes, condominiums, shopping centres, hotels, and industrial/office parks. In addition, Pollyco is operating a single family housing division in Calgary, Alberta.​

DEREK TOWNSEND- Citifund
Derek began his career with Citifund in 2012, focusing on the rental apartment market. Specializing in CMHC insured and conventional financing, purpose built rental projects and interim value add financing, Derek quickly became the firm’s expert and an industry leader in this market sector. Beyond brokering loans, he has a passion to influence and advance the mortgage and development industry by volunteering his time on committees and Board of Directors for prominent groups such as UDI U40, MIABC and currently, LandlordBC.

LESLIE WYNICK - Royal Bank of Canada
Leslie Wynick  is a Associate Director, Real Estate, Commercial Financial Services specializing in real estate. She manages a portfolio of approximately 25 real estate clients throughout B.C., including many high-profile projects in the Lower Mainland and Victoria markets. Leslie  holds a BSN and an MBA from UBC. 

 

FIONA NG - Royal Bank of Canada

Fiona Ng brings more than 13 years of experience in financial services to her role as Associate Director, commercial Real Estate at RBC, where she manages a portfolio of approximately 25 real estate clients. Fiona has financed income producing real estate and real estate construction projects located throughout Metro Vancouver, Squamish and Calgary with deal size ranges from $10 million to $250 million. Asset types include land subdivision, townhome, low-rise residential condo, and mixed-use concrete residential high-rise. Fiona holds a CMA, CPA designation.


MICHAEL VON HAUSEN - MVH Urban Planning and Design
Adjunct Professor, Simon Fraser University, Michael heads an international consulting firm that specializes in land development strategies, community partnerships, urban design, and training mid-career professionals. Michael's firm has won 10 awards for planning, design and development of communities across western Canada over the past five years. He brings over 30 years of experience in land development planning, finance, and urban design, teaching and working across North America.
