For those of you who attended our Celebrating Women event in the fall of 2022, The Confidence Code by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman was recommended by Armin Amrolia, Deputy City Manager of the City of Vancouver, and it is no coincidence we picked this book. As a special treat to our members, Armin has graciously agreed to join us for an intimate fireside conversation about confidence, the science and art of self-assurance and what women should know!

Here is a podcast you can listen to with Katty Kay to learn more about the key insights of the book.

Armin Amrolia, Deputy City Manager, City of Vancouver

As AVP, Armin grew the Development Strategies team that delivered an average of 3,500 affordable homes annually. Armin was instrumental in the delivery of projects that filled the needs across the housing spectrum in more than 65 communities through partnerships with over 200 non-profit housing providers, housing cooperatives, Indigenous groups, and development partners.  From the creation of the HousingHub, which was aimed at the delivery of product for middle income households to the redevelopment of aging public housing sites, Armin has an array of complex development experience.

Currently she is the Deputy City Manager (DCM), at the City of Vancouver and also serves as the General Manager for the Real Estate, Environment Facilities Management (REFM) department.  In her DCM role, Armin works closely with the City Manager on all aspects of City operations and within REFM she leads highly professional teams who are responsible for civic facility development, oversight of City assets and Real Estate Services.  She is also particularly proud of working along side the Indigenous Relations group who is responsible for the implementation of the City's commitment to government to government relations with the three host Nations; Musqueam Indian Band, Squamish Nation and Tsleil-Waututh Nation.  This important work will advance the City's evolving strategic direction around the Reconciliation Framework and Reconciliation efforts.

She is the recipient of numerous awards, including being selected as the YWCA's 2021 Woman of Distinction in the non-profit category, the 2021 Urban Land Institute BC Women's Leadership Initiative Outstanding Leader, and a 2023 Power 50 recipient by the Vancouver magazine.
