Building on the success of the inaugural 2015 U40 Development Tour to Seattle, the U40 Executive Committee has partnered with Portland State University and their First Stop Portland Program to feature two and a half days of expert insight into the development activities, planning policies, and social fabric that has made Portland the vibrant city it is today.
• There are only 40 initial spots available - sign up now! All UDI members are welcome to join the tour.
First Stop Portland has prepared an anticipated itinerary for the tour:
April 28 - Day 1: “The Portland Story”
• Regional overview presentation followed by networking reception with local officials and development industry professionals.
April 29 - Day 2: “We Build Green Cities”
• Explore Portland’s strategies for sustainable urban redevelopment, including urban design, adaptive reuse, civic participation in planning processes, and structuring effective public-private partnerships.
• Site visits by streetcar and light rail to the West/End and Pearl District (including Brewery Blocks) and the Innovation Quadrant (including South Waterfront and Central Eastside Industrial Sanctuary).
• Luncheon keynote and panel discussion with local experts from public and private sectors.
April 30 - Day 3: “The Power of Place”
• Discover the heart of downtown Portland: Portland Farmer’s Market, The Portland Open Space Sequence, Portland State University (PSU)
• Lunch presentation by delegation members to Portland experts at PSU
• On-field study tour

Tour fee:
$425 + GST - All UDI members are welcome to join the tour (limit of 3 people per firm)
No cancelations or refunds. Substitutions allowed.
Please note that should we not reach meet our minimum requirement of sales by March 1st, 2016, you will receive a refund on your registration.
Tour fee includes:
- All tour planning and coordination
- Printed briefing materials and transit passes for the duration of the delegation stay in Portland
- Reception, expert presenters, meeting rooms, AV equipment
PLEASE NOTE:
Transportation
Transportation to/from Portland is NOT included in the tour fee. We can help arrange car-pooling among the participants.
Accommodation
We have secured a group rate range of $200.00 USD per night in downtown Portland for either single or double occupancy, so you can easily share a room with a friend or colleague. Hotel group rates are open through to the 1st of May.
