Event Description:
Come join us for a tour of Aspen, a 9-storey, mixed-use 'social housing' rental building located in Vancouver's vibrant Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood. Aspen is a result of a successful partnership between Catalyst, the Vancouver Affordable Housing Agency (VAHA) who provided the land on a long-term ground lease, and CMHC and Vancity who provided pre-development funds, low-cost pre-construction equity, and RCFI financing. Aspen is an example of how the non-profit sector can deliver beautiful, affordable, inclusive, sustainable and secured non-market homes.
Highlights of the tour will include access to a suite, amenity areas, a discussion around the operational nuances of this mixed use building, which includes the Mid Main Community Health Centre, Steamworks, and 15 suites dedicated to PALS Adult Services Society (PASS), a non-profit supporting adults with autism spectrum disorder, as well as an overview of the unique partnership structure with VAHA.
Catalyst Community Developments Society is a not-for-profit real estate developer, incorporated in 2013, with a mission to build community by developing, owning, and operating vibrant, affordable, and inspiring places to live and work. Catalyst's vision is that everyone has an open door to a home and community that improves their wellbeing and access to opportunity. Catalyst's work is primarily focused within three project delivery streams: partnerships with municipalities involving leased land, partnerships with other mission-aligned organizations seeking to unlock the value in their land, and partnerships with market developers through the acquisition and operation of inclusionary housing.
