With the first year of the 4-year term now in the books, please join us for our 8th annual Fraser Valley Mayors Panel. We will discuss key issues and priorities related to approval timelines, development fees and charges, affordable housing, rental housing, and transportation.


BIOS


MAYOR PAM ALEXIS - District of Mission
Elected to Mayor in November of 2018, Pam Alexis completed both a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction and a Post Degree Professional Program with Honours at the University of Victoria. After meeting her husband at UVic they moved to Japan where she taught English for five years in Tsukuba City. Their first child was born in Japan, and their second was born in Dallas, Texas where they lived for a number of years. Pam moved to Mission in 1996 with her family and is a resident of Hatzic.


COUNCILLOR LINDA ANNIS - City of Surrey

I have been a proud resident of Surrey for the past 18 years. I am currently the Executive Director of Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers. I have held several senior marketing and communications roles in the corporate and not for profit sector. I am passionate about my work within the community. I apply my insights gained from my diverse experience to firstly recognize the needs and secondly address those needs within the City. I am honoured to have received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal for my volunteer service.

MAYOR HENRY BRAUN - City of Abbotsford
Henry has been an Abbotsford resident for practically his entire life and was the co-owner, President and CEO of Abbotsford-based Pacific Northern Rail Contractors Corp until his retirement in 2003. Henry was also involved with companies that developed and owned commercial, industrial and residential income-producing real estate properties. As a long-time Abbotsford businessman, he is enjoying the opportunity to put his years of business experience to work for the City of Abbotsford and its residents. Henry was first elected as Mayor of Abbotsford in 2014, and is now serving his second term.


MAYOR JACK FROESE - Township of Langley

Re-elected to office in 2018, Mayor Jack Froese is currently serving his second term as Mayor.
For 37 years, Mayor Jack Froese has lived, worked, and raised a family in Langley, and was a successful business owner and farmer.
Through responsible, accountable leadership, Mayor Froese works in cooperation with Council, other elected officials, and members of the community to ensure the Township of Langley remains a thriving residential and business destination.
With a vision for enhanced economic activity and job creation, improved transportation, and safe, well-serviced communities, he is dedicated to providing an exceptional quality of life for those who live and work in the Township, now and in the future.

 
MAYOR KEN POPOVE - City of Chilliwack​
Mayor Ken Popove has been serving the Chilliwack community as a Councillor since December 2011 and then as Mayor since November 2018. Mayor Popove is a long-time Chilliwack resident and established business owner. Long before his involvement on City Council, Mayor Popove invested in the community through his work with the BIA and by supporting local community events, such as Party in the Park, Village Classic Car Show and the Rotary Christmas Parade.
 

MAYOR VAL VAN DEN BROEK - City of Langley 

Mayor van den Broek was first elected as a Langley City Councillor in 2014 and, after just four years on Council, she was elected as mayor on October 20, 2018.
 
Val has been a proud resident of the community for almost 20 years. She has worked in an administrative role within the Federal RCMP and Corrections agencies for 20 years, including as Coordinator at the Langley City Community Police Office for 8 years, and 10 years at the Langley RCMP Detachment. In addition to serving on numerous local, regional, and provincial committees, she was also elected by her provincial peers to the FCM Board. This immense experience gives Val invaluable insights which afford her a clear perspective on the various issues facing communities today. 
 
Val and her husband Rob love travelling, and as an avid photographer she has thousands of photos which tell the stories of her off the beaten path adventures. Closer to home, they can often be seen walking their two rescue dogs on the amazing trail systems in the community.
 
Val is passionate about her community and embraces her role as mayor as an opportunity to work closely with Council and with other levels of government to continue to move Langley City forward!



DON R. CAMPBELL (Moderator)
Don R. Campbell is a Canadian-based real estate investor, researcher, author and educator. He is the Senior Analyst with the Real Estate Investment Network, and owner of Cutting Edge Research Inc., both of which have entered their 23rd year of providing unbiased research and analysis on Canadian real estate markets. He and his experienced team are leaders in providing Canada's most current real estate investment education programs and economic research materials.
