A lot has changed this past year, yet the Fraser Valley real estate market has remained consistently active during the COVID-19 Pandemic. However, as BC transitions into economic recovery, our industries also aim to better understand future market conditions. Join our expert panel as they share their perspective on housing economics, the new build and re-sale multi-family housing market, land development this past year, as well as, forecast where they believe the market is going.

Hot topics the panel will address include the stress test, escalating construction costs, interest rates, immigration, supply/demand, and how each of these factors could affect the market in 2022.

Scott Brown, President & CEO, Fifth Avenue Real Estate Marketing Limited (Fifth Avenue)
Scott directly oversees the growth and success of the project marketing, sales, and operations teams responsible for delivering sales success and developer partner satisfaction. Throughout his 30 years of work experience, Scott has formed and led teams that have set sales records in North America and Asia. He has consistently provided high-quality strategic advisory services and expanded his marketing and sales strategy creation, culture development, and performance enhancement expertise.

He is also personally involved in ensuring that Fifth Avenue has the most professional and dedicated sales representation in the market by leveraging his vast high-performance sales coaching knowledge and expertise. Scott is also a sought-after media resource and speaker with respect to the status of new multifamily home market in Metropolitan Vancouver.

Previously, Scott served as a founding partner and Senior Vice President of Colliers International’s Residential Project Marketing Group. Prior to that, Scott served as Chief Sales Officer at Kor Real Estate where he oversaw the startup and global expansion of Kor Real Estate’s project marketing firm. His work at Kor included extensive leadership of marketing and sales advisory assignments of marketing and sales advisory assignments for projects in Dubai; UAE; Manila; Philippines; Anguilla; Playa del Carmen, Mexico; Miami, Florida, USA; Seychelles; Da Nang, Viet Nam and Bangkok, Thailand.

Scott began his residential career as an advisor to Intrawest where he concluded by serving as Senior Vice President with Intrawest’s global resort project marketing entity, Playground. In addition to overseeing a billion-dollar-per annum portfolio of projects situated throughout North America and Asia, Scott was directly responsible for leading strategic partnerships including Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

Eric Bond,
Senior Specialist – Market Analysis and spokesperson for Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, CMHC
Eric provides research and commentary on new home construction, resale, and rental market developments and their impacts on the housing market. He has over six years of experience with CMHC in this role and holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of British Columbia.

Mike Harrison, Licensed Development Land Broker and Partner, Frontline Real Estate
Mike has been involved in over a billion dollars of residential development land transactions, claiming Surrey’s largest land transaction for many of the past 5 years. Mike has focused exclusively on residential development land in the Valley, runs that business for Frontline, and has a blast doing it.

Bryan Yu, Chief Economist, Central 1
Bryan Yu leads Central 1’s team of economists conducting macro- and regional economic analysis for both the organization and the broader credit union system. He provides thought leadership through the team’s economic forecast and analysis reports, credit union and industry presentations, and sits on several Central 1 risk and treasury committees. Mr. Yu joined Central 1 in 2010, and previously worked as an economist for the BC Real Estate Association and CMHC, and prior to that as an academic researcher in immigration economics. He holds a MA in Economics from Simon Fraser University and a BA from the University of Manitoba. He currently serves on the boards of the B.C. Paraplegic Foundation and Canadian Association for Business Economics
