Event Description:

The suburban markets in Metro Vancouver, and in particular the Fraser Valley, buoyed by COVID-19 induced migration were key to the astounding real-estate market recovery in 2020. In this spirited conversation our panel will discuss the implications of what has transpired since the lockdowns in early Spring 2020 and they will share their preliminary outlooks with respect to what to expect in 2021.

Ryan Lucy - President, Morningstar  


As President of Morningstar, Ryan takes pride in ensuring that Morningstar's new communities are a reflection of our Company's values, that our homes incorporate the knowledge gained over our many years of home building and that our homes are designed for how people want to live. His experience includes working in the commercial real estate sector since 1998, ultimately expanding his expertise in acquisitions, land, development, new home construction, leasing, and asset management. Currently, Ryan is responsible for all land acquisition, development, construction, customer service, and administrative matters at Morningstar. Ryan holds an Urban Geography degree from the University of Victoria. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his family, playing hockey and mountain biking.  

 

Jason Lum - Councillor, City of Chilliwack and Chair, Fraser Valley Regional District 

Jason Lum is a third term Councillor in Chilliwack. He has also been elected three times to the Executive of the Lower Mainland Local Government Association by his peers in Local Government, and most recently completed two terms as President of the Association. His advocacy efforts have helped raise awareness around issues from homelessness and mental health, to flood protection to other orders of government. In 2016 Lum was elected as Chair of the Fraser Valley Regional District, and leads a 23 member board of Directors as one of the youngest elected Regional District Chairs in the Province of British Columbia.
 
Prior to his election in 2011, Lum was the President of the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce, and a board member on a number of local charitable and non-profit organizations. Lum is also a small business entrepreneur, and a member of the Mount Cheam Rotary Club, with deep roots in the community. He was also chosen as one of UFV’s “Top 40,” which recognizes 40 outstanding alumni whose ideas, passion, leadership and achievements have helped shape UFV and the communities they serve.
 
Lum is a longtime resident of Chilliwack, and currently resides in Yarrow with his wife, Sheila and their 8 month old son Cedar Jeremiah.

 

 

Jonathan Meads – Vice President, StreetSide Developments  
 

Jonathan is Vice President of StreetSide, part of the Qualico Group. StreetSide builds row homes, townhomes, condos and mixed use projects. Jonathan has been in his new role for 1 year, overseeing all facets of the company; after 2+ years as Senior Development Manager, where, as well as looking after projects he was on a corporate team advancing a nationwide sustainability strategy. He joined StreetSide after 11 years with Concert as Development & Sustainability Manager. He has worked in both Canada and the UK, with experience in wood, concrete and steel residential and commercial construction. Jonathan has a Diploma in Building Studies, a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Building Surveying, he is a Chartered Surveyor and holds his LEED AP designation. Jonathan has been a member of various UDI Committees and remains engaged with BC Housing and other government bodies. He is passionate about building better buildings.  
 
Leslie Wynick- Associate Director, Real Estate, Commercial Financial Services Royal Bank of Canada 
Leslie Wynick is Associate Director, Real Estate, Commercial Financial Services specializing in real estate. She manages a portfolio of approximately 25 real estate clients throughout B.C., including many high-profile projects in the Lower Mainland and Victoria markets. Leslie holds a BSN and an MBA from UBC. 


Scott Brown- President and CEO, Fifth Avenue Real Estate Marketing (Moderator)  

As President & CEO of Fifth Avenue Real Estate Marketing Limited, (Fifth Avenue) Scott directly oversees the growth and success of the project marketing, sales, and operations teams responsible for delivering sales success and developer partner satisfaction. Throughout his 30 years of work experience, Scott has formed and led teams that have set sales records in North America and Asia. He has consistently provided high-quality strategic advisory services and expanded his marketing and sales strategy creation, culture development, and performance enhancement expertise.
