UDI is excited to welcome Samuel Assefa, Director of Seattle’s Executive Office of Planning and Community Development as our keynote speaker at our May Luncheon.

Mr. Assefa will discuss housing initiatives and opportunities in the city of Seattle, and his perspective on how Seattle is tackling many of the same challenges Vancouver is experiencing.

Prior to his appointment in Seattle, he served as the Senior Urban Designer for the City of Boulder, Colorado from 2010 to 2016.
From 2002 to 2010, he was with the City of Chicago where he served as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Mayor and was in charge of coordinating departments that implemented planning and economic development policies and programs.
Mr. Assefa is a graduate of MIT with a Master’s in City Planning, and the University of Illinois at Chicago with a B.A. in Architecture.
