Event Description:
Located at 7th and Yukon Street in Vancouver near the Broadway/Cambie Skytrain transit nexus, the new four storey, 17,000 ft2 building was designed by using mass timber as a primary structural material.
The new, materials-efficient building design features:
- Pre-fabricated, hybrid mass timber and steel superstructure
- Electro-chromatic glass – a remote controlled, variable tint glazing system that optimizes shading and reduces energy costs
- Mass Timber (CLT) firewall prefabricated with exterior finishes
- An earthquake-resistance technology use that effectively dissipates energy and does not require post-event maintenance.
