One of the key issues that our industry has to manage with new projects is connecting to BC Hydro. BC Hydro has a renewed focus on working with developers so projects can be connected in an efficient and timely manner.
 
Come and hear from the program leaders responsible for connecting UDI member projects to the grid, spanning single family homes, row houses, townhouses, office/industrial and high-rise residential towers. Here’s your chance to ask questions!
 
BC Hydro will update you on the Design Connect program, which provides you with a single point of contact for your new connection, and the Customer Build program (similar to the Certified Professional program), in which developers can retain approved professionals to deliver underground electrical infrastructure for residential projects in accordance with BC Hydro standards and design practices. There will also be a brief presentation on Power Smart’s Commercial New Construction Program.
 
In addtion, BC Hydro is also currently engaging customers and stakeholders in the 2015 Rate Design Application (RDA).  As part of this application, BC Hydro will be updating its distribution and transmission extension policies. BC Hydro will provide a brief overview of the RDA and the opportunities for you to provide feedback on extension policies affecting developers. Come and provide your opinions on this important topic.
