Building policy is changing to address a couple of environmental issues.
On December 20, the energy requirements of the BC Building Code will change for larger (Part 3) buildings. Developers will have the option of either meeting ASHRAE 90.1-2010 or the 2011 National Energy Code for Buildings.
Blair McCarry of Perkins+Will Canada will review both standards and help you determine which one is better for your project. And
David Ramslie from Integral Group will tell us how is the government enforcing these energy standards and ensuring compliance.
Another building issue is sea level rise. It is anticipated that by the year 2100, sea levels will increase an average of approximately one meter. The City of Vancouver
became the first Canadian city to adopt a climate change adaptation strategy, which includes a coastal flood risk assessment and flood-proofing policies. Tamsin Mills of the City of Vancouver’s Sustainability Group will bring us up to date on their work and how it will impact building elevations.
Join us to hear our expert panelists answer these questions and more!
