Event Description:
BC Finance Minister Mike de Jong will give the opening remarks at this event - please join us!
Significant changes have been made to the Real Estate Development Marketing Act (REDMA). It’s time to fully understand what all this means – in practical terms – to the industry.
The UDI Legal Issues Committee – led by Mark Lewis of Borden Ladner Gervais – has spearheaded UDI’s efforts to improve REDMA. Now, Mark and the Committee will explain those changes to the UDI membership.
Each amendment will be reviewed and then connected to a real-life scenario together with key steps that must be taken, and by who.
Here’s one example:
REDMA Amendment:
Developers are now able to deliver disclosure statements electronically.
Step 1 – salespeople must ensure that consent to email communication is obtained in writing, either in the contract or a separate consent form.
Step 2 – sales teams should meet with their IT colleagues to confirm that they can track delivery and receipt of emails.
This will be a seminar that minimizes “legalese” and maximizes helpful information, so you can return to the office and implement new systems and procedures right away.
Please join us to learn many more helpful hints from our legal experts, all of whom serve on our Legal Issues Committee.
