UDI Vancouver breakfast - Next Generation of Green

What does 2014 have in store for us when it comes to green building in Canada? Come and hear about the next generation of LEED, how to effectively manage the costs of green projects, and a City of Vancouver update.
 

 
Thomas Mueller – President & CEO, Canada Green Building Council
LEED Version 4 will be officially launched on June 3, 2014 with increased requirements for energy efficiency, emphasis on building performance and, most notably, lifecycle assessment of materials and products. Starting June 1, 2015, these changes will have a direct impact on any development projects in Vancouver where LEED Gold certification is required as part of the rezoning process. Thomas will also cover emerging trends including municipal green building policy in North America, EcoDistricts framework for large scale urban redevelopment, and new tools of interest such as Passive House, Living Buildings.

Dave Ramslie – Principal, Integral Group
Dave will share the Integral Group’s recent research with international construction consultants Davis Langdon on the cost implications of building to Living Building Challenge/Net Zero/One Planet standards, using both statistical analyses and anecdotal assessments of actual projects. He will explore the strategies and methodologies that enable effective cost management of these next-generation green projects.
