Panel of Speakers:

DAVID PORTE
President, Porte Communities

David Porte loves real estate and cares about people, and he’s certainly no stranger to this business. He spent his formative years observing his father build this company, founded in passion and ethics, and decided that he, too, would continue this tradition. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce from the Division of Urban Land at U.B.C., David began officially working for the family company in 1991. Now, David leads Porte into the second generation, using the Porte Promises as his guide. He is actively engaged in day-to-day operations, overseeing development activities.

JOHN HORTON
President, Shape Properties Corp. & Shape Living Corp.

John Horton is the founding partner and President of Shape Properties and Shape Living. John is actively involved in all aspects of Shape’s business from acquisitions and finance through to asset management and design. He has led several significant land bank acquisitions that currently form the diverse projects in Shape’s coveted portfolio. He has also overseen the major debt-financing required to execute on these large scale projects. With a strong commitment to creating superior, integrated communities with a world-class experience, John is regularly engaged on the architecture, design and marketing of these projects. He is integral in maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including billion-dollar pension fund partners, major lending institutions and municipal leaders. Under his leadership, Shape has experienced ongoing success such as extensive master-plan rezoning, over a billion dollars in debt financing and unprecedented residential sales.

PEETER WESIK
President, Wesgroup Properties

Peeter Wesik is the president of Wesgroup Properties, a family business started in British Columbia more than 50 years ago. Wesgroup is a private real estate organization with a diversified portfolio spanning residential and commercial real estate. Wesgroup has also invested in the equipment sales and service business under the brand names Williams Machinery and Westerra Equipment, with 8 branches located throughout BC. Peeter previously practiced law as a partner at Russell & DuMoulin (now Fasken Martineau DuMoulin) and is now involved in numerous industry associations including the Urban Development Institute, where he served as Director and Past Chair, and is a current Director of the Royal BC Museum.

JON STOVELL
