Event Description:
On September 26th, the Province launcheda public review of two significant changes to the Energy Step Code (ESC), that could have impacts on your future building projects. The Government is establishing province-wide energy performance standards and allowing local governments to mandate GHG emission targets for new buildings.
As a result of these changes, some local governments that have implemented the ESC, have already indicated that they will be increasing their required steps and introducing new GHG reduction targets for new building in 2023.
The Province itself is planning to mandate that new buildings be net-zero energy ready by 2032 and have zero carbon emissions by 2030.
With opening remarks with Bertine Stelzer of BC Hydro and expertly moderated by Dave Ramslie of OPEN Technologies, we will hear from Zachary D. May, MBA, Executive Director of the Building and Safety Standards Branch and Ministry of Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Housingand Scott B.
