Event Description:

Join our expert panel on September 13th for a breakfast seminar to update you on important changes to the BC Energy Step Code and City of Vancouver Sustainability Policies. The Province is moving forward with a Ministerial Mandate Letter commitment that is being integrated into the BC Energy Step Code to establish voluntary greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions targets  which local governments can apply to new construction. The City of Vancouver will also provide an update on their green building policies.

Key topics include:

  • Zachary May will outline how the proposed changes to the BC Building Code may impact your projects as well as provide an update on other Building Code issues.
  • Maxwell Sykes will discuss how local governments may apply the GHG performance standards; issues that were considered in developing the performance standards; and what should be considered in implementing them.
  • The City of Vancouver will share its experience to date with GHG targets and the Zero Emissions Building Plan, as well as updates on building policies and the Climate Emergency Action Plan.
