The Women of UDI Committee is proud to host the annual event under the new banner of “Celebrating Women 2018”.  Get inspired by this captivating panel of speakers who offer a diversity of experiences from career paths and goals to business approaches and hear about their life’s journey and struggles.

The entertaining discussion will revolve around four influential professionals in the city, and will be moderated by Suzana Goncalves, Chief Advisory Officer and Partner of MLA Canada. We invite all members and non-members to attend the committee’s most popular event and toast to an exciting year of celebrating women across all industries.

AMEET JOHAL

For the past 20 years Ameet Johal has followed her passion to do things differently by helping to create memorable and meaningful experiences for homebuyers and clients. As Director of Sales and Marketing at Aragon Properties, Ameet is accountable for generating revenue across a diverse portfolio within Canada and the US, including mixed use master-planned communities, single-family, multifamily and hospitality. Providing leadership and direction for product development, sales, marketing, and customer experience, her approach is derived from a long-nurtured love of people, places and spaces. Ameet is a charismatic leader, who inspires her team to challenge the status quo with forward-thinking ideas and continually motivates them to strive for greater heights.  

ANNE MCMULLIN

Anne McMullin is the President and CEO of the Urban Development Institute (UDI) – the leading voice for the development industry in BC.  Anne joined UDI in 2012 following a career path, which has incorporated extensive experience in Public Affairs and Community Engagement over a span of more than 20 years.  Previously she was the President and General Manager of the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce.  Before that, Ms. McMullin was Director of Communications at what is now Port Metro Vancouver, President of the BC Salmon Farmers’ Association, a reporter for BCTV which is now Global TV in Vancouver, and a reporter and broadcaster for Mountain FM in Squamish.  Anne is a Board Member with BC’s Knowledge Network, a Trustee with the Jack Webster Foundation Excellence in Journalism, Vice Chair of Field Hockey Canada, President of  West Vancouver Field Hockey Club,  and is a volunteer with many other community organizations. Ms. McMullin studied political science at the University of British Columbia, and holds a journalism diploma from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)

EVI MUSTEL

​Evi Mustel is the co-founder and one of the principals of Mustel Group, a Vancouver-based market and opinion research company. She has over 30 years experience in the research industry. Her clients include provincial, regional and municipal governments, federal government agencies, corporations, not-for-profit organizations and business and professional associations.  Evi has designed and conducted studies on many of today’s most important economic, environmental and social issues. Ms Mustel is a Certified Market Research Professional (CMRP).  She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from McMaster University and is Vice-Chair of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, director of the International Women’s Forum (IWF), director of 58 West Hastings, and past director of Easy Park, and the YMCA of Greater Vancouver.  Ms Mustel is also a member of the Metro Vancouver Regional Prosperity Initiative Steering Committee, a group of stakeholders that are committed to improving and expanding the prosperity of the Metro Vancouver region through the creation of a collaborative entity that will bring together businesses, local governments, academia, professional associations and civic organizations. 

SANDY TREAGUS

Sandy Treagus is the Chief Financial Officer of MEC (Mountain Equipment Co-op), Canada’s hub for high-quality outdoor apparel and equipment, expert advice and inspiration. In addition to his regular CFO responsibilities, Sandy oversees MEC’s real estate developments. Since 2014, this includes opening seven new destination stores, an Eastern Distribution Centre and a new LEED® Platinum Certified head office with new flagship stores in Toronto and Vancouver currently under construction. Sandy works closely with MEC’s Executive Team to continually refine an omni-channel strategy that provides the co-op’s 5 million members with a seamless retail experience across various touch points – one that’s grounded in world-class products, exceptional customer service and inspiring in-store experiences. Sandy holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Post Graduate Diploma in accounting from the University of Cape Town and is a registered Chartered Accountant.  A life-long athlete with a passion for cycling, running, paddling and snowsports, Sandy embodies MEC’s purpose of living an active outdoor lifestyle. In 2012, Sandy was recognized as ‘BC CFO of the Year – Transformation Agent’ by BC Business.

SUZANA GONCALVES

Suzana Goncalves is driven by the dynamic nature of the real estate development industry. A logical thinker, she finds satisfaction in uncovering solutions using data and analytics with creativity and strategy. Suzana’s proactive approach originates from over 15 years of industry experience and a determined confidence. With sharp communication skills, Suzana oversees MLA Advisory, MLA Communications, and marketing to deliver exceptional quality and added value to clients. She works tirelessly to create better service and products, remaining current on innovative processes.
