He is a member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and was awarded Fellowship in 2009. Russell is a member of the Canada Green Building Council and Passive House Canada.\n\nRussell was the principal architect for the groundbreaking\, 18-storey\, Brock Commons Tallwood House located at the University of British Columbia\, which at the time of completion was the world's tallest contemporary wood building. He is currently the Acton Ostry principal architect for The Arbour\, an international design competition-winning project done in collaboration with Moriyama & Teshima Architects\, which at 10-storeys will be the first large span\, exposed tall wood academic building in North America.\n\nRussell is a member of the City of Vancouver Mass Timber Advisory Panel and the Vancouver School Board Mass Timber Schools Designer Panel. In 2018 he served on the Tall Wood Technical Advisory Panel for the Provincial Building & Safety Standards Branch and in 2017 he sat on the BC Provincial Procurement & Wood Expert Panel. In 2013 Russell served as an evaluator for the Tall Wood Demonstration Projects Initiative sponsored by National Resources Canada. Russell also served on the 2010 Wood Demonstration Projects Evaluation Committee organized by the Wood Enterprise Coalition. Russell has lectured extensively on the environmental benefits and economic challenges associated with mass wood construction. \n\nRussell currently sits on the University of British Columbia Advisory Urban Design Panel. He has served on the City of Vancouver Urban Design Panel\, the City of Vancouver Development Permit Board Advisory Panel\, the Architectural Institute of British Columbia Registration Board\, and is a former Chair of the AIBC Architectural Technologist Admissions Committee.\n\n \n\nKatie Dunsworth-Reiach - Partner and Co-founder\, Talk Shop Media\n\nAn entrepreneur for nearly two decades Katie is one of the youngest women in Canada to be named 40 Under Forty. She was discovered and featured on Oprah in 2007 and have since transformed her expertise into one of Canada's most awarded agencies. Today\,Talk Shop offers 100 percent mat leave top up\, flexible schedules and affordable childcare to employees. The company is consistently named among Canada's Top 100 employers. As the leader of Talk Shop Katie is passionate about her work with architecture\, design and real estate brands which has led her to actively embrace and participate in the shift towards sustainability and the use of mass timber in our built environment. \n\nKatie continues to grow other businesses and investments through her real estate group LongGame Holdings and InResidence an incubator and venture capital group. She is also a contributor to Global News and CTV Morning Live and remains an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity Greater Vancouver and For Women Entrepreneurs.\n\n\n\nPaul Fast - Founder\, Fast + Epp Structural Engineers\n\nAs founding partner of Fast + Epp\, Paul is passionate about design excellence. He has been recognized for his unconventional use of materials\, emerging as a leader in architecturally exposed structures\, often pushing the design envelope to create hybrids of timber\, concrete\, and steel. He was lead engineer for the Brock Commons Tallwood House at UBC. \n\nHis firm has been involved with projects in North America\, Europe\, Asia and the Middle East\, and has been granted over 90 national and international engineering awards. \n\nPaul is an honourary member of the Architectural Institute of B.C. and a Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers based in the United Kingdom. \n\n \n\nRocky Sethi - Chief Operating Officer\, Adera Development Corporation (moderator)\n\nRocky Sethi has been involved in the development and construction of wood frame and concrete residential and mixed-use buildings across Western Canada for over 20 years. He has been involved in all aspects of development from acquisition and design to construction and delivery of thousands of homes and hundreds of thousands of square feet of commercial developments. Rocky offers insight into the full spectrum of residential and commercial developments and has always worked on the leading edge of the industry\, with companies looking to push the envelope with their projects in order to maximize the value of the real estate and offering to the customer. As the COO of Adera\, he is championing projects incorporating Cross Laminated Timber and high levels of sustainability\, in order to deliver cutting edge projects while combating climate change. Adera recently completed the Virtuoso project at UBC\, and has four more CLT projects in planning or construction\, including over 500 mass timber homes.
