On September 26th, the Province launched [https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/industry/construction-industry/building-codes-standards/bc-codes/public-review] a public review of two significant changes to the Energy Step Code (ESC) [http://www.energystepcode.ca/], that could have impacts on your future building projects. The Government is establishing province-wide energy performance standards and allowing local governments to mandate GHG emission targets for new buildings.
As a result of these changes, some local governments that have implemented the , have already indicated that they will be increasing their required steps and introducing new GHG reduction targets for new Province itself is planning to mandate that new buildings be net-zero energy ready by 2032 and have zero carbon emissions by 2030.
The High-Performance Building Program is a 2-day session created to serve as an ongoing vehicle to prepare the market for current and future energy and sustainability related building code updates.
This dynamic 2-day session will be facilitated by Dave Ramslie of OPEN Technologies and Jonathan Meads of StreetSide Development with presentations from industry experts covering topics from Approvals, Design & Construction, Financing, to Building Ownership and Handover.
